Defining and Explaining Channeling
What is channeling?
Our consciousness is nonlocal, and we are all interconnected.
Meaning, our consciousness, our awareness, our Being-ness, is not limited to our physical brain. We are much more expansive than we have been led to believe.
Interconnectedness is the essence that we are one. This is the underlying foundation of most spiritual traditions and also aligns with modern science – see: cosmogenesis, quantum physics, and quantum entanglement.
Understanding this, we can define channeling as the process of revealing information and energy that is not limited by our conventional notions of space and time.
When we are channeling, we are directing our consciousness to different streams of information and energy that exist and are always present within our Universe.
This is a broad, umbrella term. Under this definition, many activities can be called channeling – Intuitive hunches, psychic readings, remote viewing, mediumship, animal communication, trance channeling, automatic writing, conscious channeling, among many others.
This is because channeling is the method or process, and there are an infinite number of ways we can apply that method or process to receive information and energy from the Universe.
Channeling is a universal human experience and has been recorded throughout written history.
Who uses the term channeling, and what do they do?
In popular culture today, the term channeling has a narrow definition. It is usually used to describe trance channeling. This is a state of consciousness where a channeler enters a different state and allows another being to enter their body and communicate through their voice.
This practice usually involves the channeler working with a specific being or collective of beings who has an interest in sharing wisdom that will support humanity’s awakening. The channeler usually is in a sleep-like state and has little memory of what comes through. This practice is becoming less and less common these days.
Today, most people who are using the term channeling to describe their work, are using conscious channeling to align their awareness with the frequencies of higher dimensional beings, collectives of Spirit, the higher self, or interdimensional beings. The individual channeler forms a relationship with this frequency over time, and they work together to share wisdom and answer questions to help individuals and humanity.
In conscious channeling, the channeler is fully present and conscious and steps their awareness to the side to allow a different awareness to flow through them to share a message. The channeler can usually remember what is coming through, though it may be dream-like.
Channeled writing is also common, and many popular books have been written by channelers using a process of allowing a stream of information to enter them and flow through. This can be done using automatic writing or voice channeling that is later transcribed. Some examples include Ask and it is Given by Abraham Hicks, A Course in Miracles, Seth Speaks by Jane Roberts.
What types of channeling do you do?
Channeling is an extremely natural process. It is something that all of us are inherently able to do. However, many of us are closed off to learning about it, have no practice with it as a method, or have no framework of understanding it as an experience.
I have dedicated myself to learning how to channel to help others, and have been trained in channeling the soul (psychic intuitive), channeling the Spirit realm (mediumship), and channeling my Higher Self.
In my personal life, I use many forms of channeling. I channel my Higher Self and the Universe for my own personal growth, I channel the collective consciousness of humanity for artistic inspiration, I channel specific frequencies to support my body’s healing and integration, and I channel my ego and mind for day-to-day living. Yes, we are always channeling! The question is — are you aware of what you are channeling?
What is the Higher Self?
The soul is that essence of us that continues after physical death. Our soul, our true essence, is a multidimensional energetic light that incarnates into many lives. Each incarnation offers our soul the opportunity to grow and evolve on its journey towards higher consciousness. What I am referring to as the Higher Self is that part of our soul that is most evolved and aligned with Divinity, and that functions as our ultimate guide as we move through our experiences here on Earth and beyond.
